Agreement to terms

By accessing the Morning Local website (morninglocal.co.nz) or subscribing to any Morning Local newsletter, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the website or subscribe. Morning Local is published by Just Media Network Pty Ltd, an Australian company (ABN 62 638 812 236), of Level 1, 120 Spencer Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia.

The service

Morning Local provides free daily email newsletters containing curated local news, events, weather, history, puzzles and community content for cities in New Zealand. The free edition is supported by readers who choose to buy a membership and, in time, by clearly labelled sponsorship.

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to subscribe. By subscribing, you confirm that you are at least 16 and that the information you provide is accurate.

Subscribing and unsubscribing

When you subscribe, you consent to receiving a daily email newsletter at the address you provide. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email; it takes effect immediately, though an edition already being sent may still arrive.

Newsletter content

Our news summaries are written independently, in our own words, and are original editorial content — not reproductions of source articles. We attribute and link to the publications we draw on so you can read the full reporting. We aim to be accurate and fair but do not guarantee that all content is error-free, complete or current; it is provided for general information only and is not professional advice of any kind. We are not responsible for the content or availability of external sites we link to.

Content disputes

If you are a publisher or creator and believe Morning Local has used your content in a way that infringes your rights, contact us at nathan@morninglocal.co.nz with details of the specific content. We review every good-faith request promptly and will remove or amend content where appropriate.

Membership

A membership is a paid annual subscription that unlocks the members' tools and content described on the membership page. Prices are shown in NZD and include any applicable tax. Payment is processed by Stripe. A membership renews annually until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and your access continues to the end of the period you have paid for. If you change your mind within 60 days of your first payment, tell us and we will refund it in full.

Intellectual property

All Morning Local content, including newsletter text, website design, graphics, logos and layout, is owned by Just Media Network Pty Ltd or used under licence. You may share individual editions with others for personal, non-commercial purposes by forwarding the email in its entirety. You may not otherwise reproduce, distribute, modify or republish Morning Local content without our written consent.

Advertising and sponsorship

Where editions carry sponsorship or advertising, it is clearly labelled. Inclusion does not constitute an endorsement, and we are not responsible for claims or offers made by advertisers.

Your conduct

When using Morning Local (including replying to editions, submitting content or using the members' tools) you agree not to submit false or misleading information, use the service for any unlawful purpose, interfere with or disrupt it, access it with automated tools, or subscribe addresses that do not belong to you.

Reader submissions

If you send us an event, tip or message, you grant Just Media Network Pty Ltd a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, edit and reproduce it in Morning Local editions and on the website, attributed to the name you provide. You are responsible for its accuracy and confirm it is not misleading or defamatory and does not infringe anyone's rights. Everything is reviewed before publication and inclusion is not guaranteed; your email address is never published.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Just Media Network Pty Ltd and its directors, employees and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of Morning Local, including reliance on newsletter content or inability to access the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any guarantee or right you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot be excluded or limited.

Disclaimer

Morning Local is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new date, and your continued use of Morning Local after a change constitutes acceptance of it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
